FTC Seeks Public Comments on Proposed Settlement in Fraudulent Made in USA Case

On May 19, 2022, the Federal Trade Commission published in the Federal Register (87 FR 30495) Lions, Not Sheep; Analysis of Proposed Consent Order To Aid Public Comment.

As Agathon Associates reported earlier this month, the FTC has proposed a $211,335 fine, to settle its charge that the apparel company, Lions Not Sheep, has made fraudulent Made in USA claims.

Complying with the FTC rules can be complex and some manufacturers run afoul of the rules through ignorance, not the intent to deceive. I am pleased to announce that my business, Agathon Associates, offers a "Made in U.S.A. Certification" service. Manufacturers desiring to make a Made in U.S.A. claim can have me evaluate their manufacturing process and certify that under the FTC rules they can honestly say "Proudly Made in the U.S.A."
