Overview of Current NDAA FY 2027

The annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) has a history of regular passage. FY2026 marked the 65th consecutive fiscal year that an annual defense authorization was enacted.

(i) House

On May 13, 2026, Mr. Rogers, Rep., of Alabama and Mr. Smith, Dem., of Washington, introduced H.R. 8800, a bill to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2027 for Department of Defense.

On July 22, 2026, the House passed H.R.8800. The vote was largely along party lines.
